Tech participates in national initiative
The Texas Tech Student Counseling Center sponsored Depression Awareness Week Sept. 30 through Oct. 3 by offering free confidential screenings to students on campus. The event is part of a national program among universities to raise depression awareness and teach students how to cope with problems they may be facing. Read more.
Depression help available on campus 
This past week Texas Tech held events Sunday through Wednesday aimed at students being affected by depression. Whether students are facing it first hand or just wanted more information, Impact Tech, the Student Counseling Center and the Center for Campus Life held free events educating students about depression. Tech depression reflects national trend
During Texas Tech’s Depression Awareness Week, campus officials addressed the students’ problems with depression. Steve Richards, a professor in the Department of Psychology, said the United States has a bigger problem than most people realize. Read more.
Covenant hosts depression screenings
Covenant Health System is doing its part to help people dealing with depression. On Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Covenant NeuroScience Institute, free depression screenings will be conducted, according to a press release. Read more.
