Main Event in Lubbock
By: Larry Fox
Main Event offers a variety of games, entertainment, and even a bar for the adults, but this isn’t your typical bowling alley. Main Event provides a cool atmosphere that gets the entire family involved. From black light bowling, to a 32 man laser tag battle royal, all the way to classic arcade So why is this 65,00 square foot monster of fun coming to the Hub city?
“I’d like for us to become a part of the local community,” Jason Kelley, Operations Manager, said. “We draw a large interest from fraternities and sororities in addition to local businesses.”
Kelley said Lubbock should receive quite the boost from the company as it provides more options for folks on any night of the week. Kelley also stated that being a manager at Lubbock’s newest hot spot should prove to be the most fun he’s had in years.
“I’ve seen everything from a two-year-old throwing a ball down the alley to a 102-year-old man bowling,” Kelley said.
Main Event is not only for the college atmosphere as it also has a wide range of activities for children and more mature adults. The main attraction is said to cause Monday night fever.
“You can do anything and everything on a Monday night,” Kelley said. “It costs ten dollars for bowling, billiards, and laser tag. And on Tuesdays we have our half off night.”
So how does this make some of the Texas Tech students feel? Will this have any impact on the University? Will it draw in more students from around the local area, possibly even the state?
“If you are under 21, there is not much to do,” Jill McClellan, a junior at Tech said. “This is something different, so you aren’t just sitting around at the bar.”
So if you’re looking for a change and want to try out a new atmosphere, bring the family and friends on out to Main Event for the time of your life. You won’t regret it.
“We have a little bit of everything here,” Kelley said. “It’s fun for the whole family.”
