Visiting Wimberley, Texas

           If Texas Tech students are interested in a relaxing spring break without the crowds of a typical "beach hot spot," they may want to check out the small town of Wimberley, Texas, located just south of Austin.
           Sperry Gameson, a first-year nursing student, said visiting Wimberley for spring break would be relaxing and cheap. She said the idea of an alternative spring break is a great idea. Cypress Creek in Downtown Wimberley
           Gameson said she has a friend who rents a vacation house in Wimberley and she loves spending time there.
          “I think (Wimberley) would be a lot safer than your typical beach setting," said Gameson. "And being with friends makes you not worry about the potential of something bad happening,”
           Wimberley was designated one of America's ten best small towns by Travel Holiday Magazine, according to http://www.wimberley.org/.
           Creekhaven Inn in Wimberley, TexasAudrey Curtis, a volunteer who works at the Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center in Wimberley, said the area is a beautiful spot to visit.
          "We have a 7-and-a-half mile nature trail," she said. "That's nice."
           Curtis said there is an attraction called "Old Baldy," which is a set of steps that leads tourists up a naure trail to a spot where they can look out over the valley.
          "It's a beautiful view of the valley," said Curits.
