The Goin' Band That "Never Lost a Halftime"
by Brittany White

The Goin' Band is a fixture as tenured as Texas Tech. Few universities can boast, like Tech can, that they had marching bands from the very beginning. Throughout the years the band only became stronger and more prominent. In 1925 the band had 20 members and now there are approximately 400 members in the Goin' Band from Raiderland.
Tech was the first school in the nation to allow females in its marching band, a move that kept the band afloat during the dry years of World War II. The Goin' Band is the pride of Texas Tech students and alumni. It's not unusual to hear a sports fan say, "We've never lost a halftime show," says Theodore Maicker.
