A straight, flat 30 miles west of Lubbock brings visitors to Levelland, TX , a city crammed with arts, charm and tradition. Known as “the city of mosaics,” nine original mosaics are scattered through various public buildings in Levelland, spreading the artistry through the 13,000 population town.
The mosaics themselves represent the spread and diverse nature of the arts within the community, as well as the public access. Levelland hosts “Camp Bluegrass,” a “one-week residential picking camp for bluegrass musicians,” according to their website, http://www.campbluegrass.com/ .
According to the residents of Levelland, programs the city hosts are successful due to the unanimous support of the community. Chamber of Commerce Board Member, LisaPresley said the small size does not discourage big plans. “As far as a little town, we’re a little town with some really great big ideas,” she said. “We’re just a community that pulls together to bring the better for our community.”
