Studying abroad will enhance a student’s education, finding courses offered at international universities that are not offered in the states. Studying abroad offers a unique opportunity to discover the world, becoming acquainted with the customs and languages of other cultures, and at the same time receiving academic credit.
Richard Menard, a study abroad counselor, said students can greatly benefit from their experience in a different country, not only will it create new opportunities for growth, but it will also help them in their future career. “Employers are going to look and say we have students who went to school at University of Texas, we have students who have gone to Texas A & M University,” Menard said. “But we’re looking for students who are going to stick out and students who have had that study abroad experience – making them diverse.”
Studying abroad provides the opportunity to earn academic credit while being immersed in a foreign culture. With available scholarships and loans, students who are interested in studying abroad should be able to make it happen.
