Tips and tricks

Here are a few tips for keeping your car safe and running smooth during the harsh winter months.

Winter preparation

Keep your car running smooth...

During those harsh winter months motor vehicles can take a beating from the elements. Snow, ice, sleet and even salt on the roads can cause severe damage to every part of your vehicle.

Cold weather has an effect on tire pressure. Many people think that they need to go have their tires replaced, but really all they need to do is have more air put into them. This saves hundreds of dollars. Salt on the road does no damage to the tires of your vehicle, but if left on the vehicle for a long period of time it can eat away at the paint. Washing your vehicle more often is highly recommended to prevent these problems.

Steps to take...

There are several different steps you can take to prevent the worst from happening to your vehicle.

1. Make sure to have your vehicle serviced and checked before, during and after harsh winter weather.

2. Wash your vehicle on a regular basis to keep any road grime and salt from destroying the paint.

3. Wax your vehicle before the weather starts to turn bad.

4. DO NOT pour hot water on any glass surface of the car. This will crack and break the glass.

5. Make sure your tires are in good working condition. Mainly making sure the tread on the tires is not too worn down.
