The name "Tech imPRESSions" was selected in 2006 by a group of Texas Tech students to name a magazine aimed at other students in the university. It wasn't long before the same desires that inspired the magazine produced other publication venues, including a Web site.

Founding Editor Nicole Barbosa, describes the Tech imPRESSions mission as "to provide interesting and intriguing information to students." This Web site is the magazine's alter ego that includes additional content. All material is written, recorded and photographed by students for students at Texas Tech University. The inaugural issue of the magazine contains articles and interviews about how to get a job, information on technology and more.
Miss Barbosa adds, " We encourage your input because we want to know what you want to see. Submit suggestions through our Web site contact form. As student editor, I feel privileged to have had a part in creation of Tech imPRESSions."
